BENEFITS
Protect, uplift, and advocate
Our members share a bond of service. From department events to local fundraisers, we build strong connections within our team and with the community we protect.
24/7 Legal Defense
You’re never alone when it matters most. As a GPOA member, you have 24/7 access to an emergency legal hotline, full criminal and civil defense coverage, and representation from Bruno, Colin, Goddard & Lowe, Colorado’s premier legal team for first responders. We support you through use-of-force investigations, civil lawsuits, officer-involved incidents, and internal affairs processes—ensuring you’re protected every step of the way.
Collective Bargaining
We make sure your benefits reflect the risk and commitment you bring to the job. GPOA negotiates competitive pay, retirement plans, and medical retirement options. Members also receive allowances for uniforms and essential equipment, paid time off, and protected leave. As a member, you gain exclusive voting rights on union contracts and, after 20 continuous years of service, receive a retirement bonus of $150 per year of service.
Insurance Coverage
Through our partnership with Colonial Life, you gain access to discounted supplemental insurance plans. These include affordable accident plans starting at just $10.55 per check, disability plans that protect your income during recovery, medical bridge plans to ease out-of-pocket expenses, and critical illness coverage for added peace of mind. Coverage is available for individuals and families, and your premium is locked in at your sign-up age. Best of all, no action is needed—fees are seamlessly included in your GPOA dues.
Your Voice. Heard.
We meet regularly with Greeley’s Chief and Deputy Chiefs to advocate for officer needs and department improvements. Whether it’s support during internal disputes, civil service appeal guidance, or pushing for essential resources, GPOA ensures your concerns are heard and addressed. Our recent successes include securing exterior vests, rifle plates, department-covered pouches, and officer access to IA files. We’re constantly negotiating to make your job safer, more supported, and more sustainable.
Serving Greeley—Together
We believe that unity within the department extends to unity with the community. GPOA hosts and participates in a range of events including Officer of the Year celebrations, the “Battle of the Badges” arm wrestling tournament, and the “Bags for Hope” cornhole fundraiser. We proudly support national initiatives like the Polar Plunge, Walk for MADD, and the Life Stories Gala. We also provide ongoing donations to past members and local charities. Because we don’t just serve Greeley—we’re a part of it.
